A small sample from the workshop. We'll keep adding to this as projects come through — for now, here's a recent arch repair on a red T25, start to finish.
A typical bit of Bay/T25 bodywork: water gets behind the arch, sits, and eats the inner valance and arch lip from the inside out. The owner brought this red T25 in needing the offside front arch and wheel-well let in — here's the progression.
Surface paint stripped off and the rust extent assessed. Worse than it looked from the outside — corrosion had eaten back into the inner arch.
The rotten panel cut away. You always cut further than you'd like — rust hides under what looks fine, so we work back until we hit clean steel.
Repair panel shaped, fitted and seam-welded in place. Joins dressed back so the panel reads as one piece once it's painted.
Primed, painted to match, and the inner wheel-well stone-chipped and sealed. Should outlast the rest of the van now.
Buses, Beetles, Karmann Ghias and the odd Porsche along the way — a selection of cars that have spent time in the workshop. Some restored, some in rude patina, all cared for the same way.
